Sonny Angel debuts traditional Japanese maekake apron!

Sonny Angel has collaborated with “Anything”, Japan’s only specialist maekake apron brand still using shuttle looms over 100 years old. Maekake aprons offer practical benefits like supporting the lower back and protection while cooking. These traditional aprons have been gaining popularity overseas as a stylish work accessory.

Each Anything x Sonny Angel apron includes a special pocket to carry your favorite mini figure! Plus the Anything maekake makes great home decor when it's not in use!

How to Tie the Maekake:

1. Stand up straight

Tighten your posture and gently place the belt around the widest part of your hips, low and below the waist, to stabilize.

2. Wrap the Belt

Exhale while crossing the belt behind you, then bring each opposite end to the front.

3. Tie the Belt

Tie the belt securely at the front, and centered for best support.

Anything maekake aprons are proudly produced entirely in Japan—from spinning to sewing—while preserving traditional techniques. Each fabric is carefully woven in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, the last remaining maekake-producing region in Japan.

Bring home a part of Japanese history and craftsmanship, coupled with the charm of Sonny Angel with this special collaboration!

Evelyn E. ★★★★★

The fabric feels dense and substantial in a way you don’t see often—you can tell those hundred-year-old looms do things right. It ties snugly without bunching, and the print on the front is crisp and clean. Wearing it makes even a simple tea run feel a little more special.

Violet N. ★★★★★

The shuttle-loom weaving gives it that old-school durability you can feel the second you put it on, and the maekake design is just the right length for kitchen work. It’s honestly the most charming apron I own, and the collaboration concept adds a nice cultural touch.

Miles R. ★★★★★

The apron's weight and drape feel substantial right out of the bag, which makes the collaboration feel like a real piece of craftsmanship. I put it on just to test the fit and ended up wearing it around the house all afternoon.
